Highest Quality in class Reviewed by A. Pitcher on Jun 16, 2014   5 out of 5

I ordered this piece because there were no posted reviews, so I wanted to evaluate it myself without being influenced by other opinions. This sword falls cleanly into the 'tweener category, which is more than a display piece but less than a reliable, long-term weapon. This piece is well constructed and solid, with a tempered carbon steel full tang blade. Metal accents are solid, and decoration of the scabbard appears to be template burned. The blade itself is strong and will hold an edge well because of the carbon steel, but the flip side of the carbon steel is the sharpening process. While the blade arrived adequately sharp out of the box, taking it to the next level requires a very hard stone and much repetition. Of course, while carbon steel sharpens and holds a great edge, it is brittle because it is so hard. This piece ends up being a beautiful display, if that is wanted, or a good live-training blade. There are several pieces in this class offered by BUDK, but in my opinion, this piece is the top of it's class.
