Good product, 2nd one

"It has good a weight and manuvers well. Center wrap reduces impact blows but short 5"-6" hand wrap just above each attachment point would be nice as well, for rear control during thrust"

Paint chipping fast

"I’ve been a fan of BudK since I was 12, my mother bought me some throwing knives to practice with since I loved ninjas so much. I came back nearly a decade later, to spend my own money, and I love the product it’s very sturdy but the paint is already chipping from slight use. I got the staff literally yesterday and it’s chipping from accidentally hitting something behind me (I haven’t tried using it to actually hit something) Everything else is good! Just the paint job sucks."

nice staff

"I like this item, but I did not buy it for Bo Staff practice. I got it to serve as a defense staff when I'm out in the woods; raccoons, skunks, coyotes. It has worked well and still is tight at the bolts, wrap is still in good condition. It is a heavy hunk of wood. I wouldn't use it on a bear, but anything else would be fair game if I'm in a situation. Good walking stick, though a bit tall and not really trimable. For a good Bo staff, use the waxwood staff found on this site."

ownly if you know what your doing

"I liked it because it saved the propose that i used it for . If you are going to bang two sticks together don't buy it . that in my opinion is not what is for. Its for practice turning ,wrist shoulder, catching in the air . Matter if fact I'm thinking of getting an other one."

My review

"For the serious martial artist this item is not what you want. Mine broke at the joint splitting the wood and thereby making it impossible to repair. I have no idea what made it break unless it was that I was just spinning/working it to fast. Not a good item. The waxwood, one piece is far superior if BudK ever gets it back."

Decoration

"Wood cracked at screw joint within minutes of practice. Looks nice leaning in the corner. Wood is nice and wrap is nice. Not for practice or combat."

S. K. (1/5)

unexpectedly poor

"I bought this hoping to use as a gift for my grandson, but that would be terribly embarrassing. This shoddy item chipped at the joints, wobbled even when tightened, the wood is very lightweight, the cord wrap is smelly, and there is no taper to the ends. A piece of work so ATYPICAL OF BudK that I simply used the pieces to make a new flagpole for my wall support rather than sending it back."

Tomahawk Staff of The Ninja

"This staff is not what I had expected. It is a 3 piece screw together staff. It looks really good, but only for a wall hanger. If you want function AND form, you are better off looking at a different staff. However, on the plus side it is a nice looking staff when assembled. I wouldn't want to test it for function though. I initially bought this item because I wanted to see if it was usable for training (it was the cheapest staff on Bud-K) and found out it is not. It is unbalanced, the wrap is loose, and the extra weight from the screws (even though it is only a few ounces) makes it unbalanced. Although I prefer a heavier staff, I prefer them when they are from one solid piece of wood. This staff imitates all the features you would look for in a functional staff but in the end, it is only an imitation. If your purpose is to hang something nice on the wall for a decoration, by all means the price is right."
