awesome sword Reviewed by patrick on Mar 25, 2013   5 out of 5

Sword is great. I took it out in the backyard and cut everything with it, including things as big around as my wrist with no problems. Good steel. all that chopping with it and no.nicks or dents.

This United Cutlery Black 54” Samurai Sword is of exceptional quality and great features. The 35 ½“ blade is thick, making it a bit heavy but allowing it to be swung with great force, and has a long deep blood groove. The handle is strong, sturdy, and long enough for a close grip for accuracy or a wide grip for power. The sheath is heavy-duty thick black leather and quality construction. Overall, I am as impressed with this sword as I am with all other United Cutlery products. Bud K comes through once again, well done.

Solid Reviewed by Blake on Mar 06, 2013   5 out of 5

good solid sword , bought this one and a longer one to train with longer (more) weight. This sword has a great flex and return after heavy use over the past three months , no rattles handle wrapped tight, scabbard is a cheap but nice leather and is fully functional . I was a saber fighter in my younger days and though this sword is totally different I would still use it in combat situations.

Beautiful sword Reviewed by Brandon on Feb 14, 2013   5 out of 5

This sword comes in a handsome United Black box wrapped in a nice black cloth bag. The sword is as pictured, no loose pieces upon opening (will update after some cutting tests, not a good day for it today). The blade is reasonably sharp, not razor sharp though. A light touch up should bring it there. The blade is stamped with the product number (UC2564), steel type (1060 carbon steel, as opposed to the item description saying 1045), and 'Handmade in China'. On the other side the United Black logo is stamped. The blade comes covered in some kind of sticky gunk. A lint free cloth and some Windex removed it fairly handily, revealing a gorgeous mirror finish. The solid Micarta tip was not quite lined up with the rest of the sword. It was off just enough to be noticeable, though I'm sure I'll be able to fix it. Upon first handling the sword this is my only real complaint. Again, I'll update once I have a chance to do some cutting tests but today isn't a good day for 'em. First impression? Well worth the money.. very nice budget blade!

54'' of death Reviewed by Christopher Tuell on Aug 18, 2012   5 out of 5

This Nodachi had a very serious and simplistic look about it, hinting that its purpose is battle, not decoration. Once you clean it and start getting used to the weight you notice it has excellent balance, the blade cuts through the air swiftly leaving behind only the noise of current. Granted the scabbard could be of better quality this is undoubtedly a tool of war for the modern samurai. A powerful weapon for the warrior of superior strength.

Overall performs amiably Reviewed by Jesse Cox on Aug 05, 2012   4 out of 5

I've had my katana for a while now and overall its a well rounded katana. It comes very sharp and can be made sharper still. However I do have a problem with the sheath. With it being made out of leather it tends to sweat and seeing as how the sword is made of carbon steel rust and corrosion soon followed. My recommendation is either continuously polish the sword or have a custom sheath made.

Extremely long and beautiful Reviewed by Blue on Jun 20, 2012   5 out of 5

This katana is very strong, and FULLY FUNCTIONAL! It's a powerful beast, and very long. If you want a sword that you can actually use, this is a must. I've had it for about a month now and it never fails to impress me. Sharpen it and you can slice through tree branches.

What can I say...I was blown away. Period. The thing came razor-sharp right out of the box, and the weight is excellent. I highly recommend this sword!!

Vicious blade Reviewed by Kevlev on Dec 20, 2011   5 out of 5

This is a very nice sword. My favorite thing about this is that it's got a longer handle then the average katana, so it feels like a mix between a katana and an odachi. Very glad I purchased this high quality blade. Oh and this sword is stamped 1060 carbon steel, not 1045 so that's just another +.
