Looks good the arm strap and handle are annoying to put in but it hangs on the wall anyway have master sword to go with it together they look good. Doesn't have a steel look I was hoping for but I like it.
Overall this shield is an amazing piece of work, nice paint and a good solid feel to it's construction. I got this for my sister's boyfriend as a Christmas gift but unfortunately the packing it came in was trashed. I had to open up the actual package to make sure everything was okay with the shield. Took me a while to find a piece of the handle because it had fallen out of the shield's box and into the packaging without me noticing. Overall this is a great piece for any Link or Legend of Zelda fan, and I am hoping that the absolutely terrible state of the package was from the postal worker not from someone at Budk cause I love you guys.
this shield is not for use. it is way better for cosplay and decoration
The shield looks pretty much as pictured, about 2ft in height and about 16in wide. The passing job is just above okay, might need some touching up. It smells terrible, mine smelt like hydrogen peroxide. It was tough getting the handle in, had to unscrew the parts to put the handle in. I can't get the strap to stay, it always falls out (just hooks holding it in place basically), I'll have to try and fix that somehow.Overall, it's a nice shield with a few small imperfections.See mine on instagram, look me up: Leo_Ascendent
It took my six year old an hour to break. I hit it with a rubber Zelda LARP and the paint scratched. The screws stripped out. A wall hanger only. If you play it will break.
Spectacular Piece! It looks just like it came out of the game into your hand, honestly. It's sturdy, stunning, and affordable. The paint is a little bit off in some places, but only if you -really- look at it, and it's hand painted, so you can't really complain. The strap to hold your forearm is velcro, and it's a bit uncomfortable, but it's easily replaceable if you want to hold the shield comfortably, and the handle is great. The price is amazing for the quality - this shield looks spot on, and it demands attention. It's lightweight, likely either wood or fiberglass, so you can hold it for cosplay or light use. Don't use it for hard contact, you might break it!All in all, a fantastic iconic piece that any Zelda fan should have, and Trueswords's service is once again fantastic....What are you waiting for?
This thing has some weight to it, but it is still cool as all hell. It is sturdy and great to look at. Great piece for the man cave. Most of all, I would like to thank True Swords for being a honest seller, unlike some other sites. Where you place a order and never get your items.
I had originally purchased this as a Christmas gift to a friend, along with the Master Sword replica from Trueswords as well. The Master Sword was perfect and looked amazing, however during shipping, the shield was damaged. I contacted Trueswords to find out how to receive a replacement, and got a reply much quicker than I had expected. Long story short, Evan Johnson, the person helping me through email, was with me every step of the way. They sent me a brand new shield that was packaged amazingly well and was not damaged in any way. The new shield's paint job was quite a bit better, and there were no dents or cracks in the shield from shipping. The shield looks amazing, and is a very decent weight (Not to light that it feels really cheap, and not too heavy that it'd be impossible to hold for an extended time) So to Evan Johnson, thank you so much for all the help and great customer service. To Trueswords.com, I've never purchased replica swords or sword-type products from any other website before, but because of this event, I know I never will. Trueswords.com is definitely where I'll be spending my money any time I'm looking for a new sword display.
this shield is amazing aside from the minor paint smudges on the front and back, you cant even really tell unless you stand directly in front of it with your face extremely close to touching it. its not metal but of course i didnt expect it to be anyway, im still very happy with it ether wayall in all its a great buy but if you do buy it for the love of god dont actually use this shield, its not made for it.
I surprised my son with the awesome ZELDA SHIELD. This shield has great color that's hand painted. It feels well built would be fun in battle. My son is the ZELDA MASTER of the block. He and all of this friends think that this shield is the best out their. But I have one negative it's that no instruction were sent with the shield. One of the handles had screws so that was easy but, the other well not so sure? My son who is 14 was able to figure it out way to go kid. We would recommend the ZELDA SHIELD for your next battle or wall décor. Thank U
The fist thing you will notice out of the box is the smell but this will disappear. It has a nice weight to it, not to heavy. the handles on the back may be a little cheap but they work well. The paint was off in a couple spots but with the Master Sword behind it it looks great on the wall.
Paint job wasn't perfect and the arm band used to hold it kind of digs into your arm, but it's still a cool product.
To start off, I would like to thank True Swords for their unbelievable customer service. It is unlikely that you will ever experience such unparalleled help from a company. Never in my life has a company -called me personally- to see if they could make my purchase experience better. I love this website and will continue, happily doing business with them. Now, for the item, it's overall a beautiful representation of the shield from the video games. I have a shirt that shows the shield, and if you compare the two, it's mind-blowing. I have, sort of a Zelda merchandise shrine, and this physical representation, makes it look legendary. The handle, is decent, but not the greatest. This is obviously for display, but, you can put the handle on, and wield the shield pretty nicely. If True Sword's customer service philosophy was adopted by more companies, the world would be a -much- better place. I cannot wait for my next purchase with True Swords.
I ordered this shield to go with my Halloween, and hopefully comic con, Link costume. I read the reviews on here and heard a lot of talk about it smelling bad, and the paint being chipped and stuff. Well, when I got it, around 4 days after ordering (there was a Sunday in there, when mail isn't delivered) I was too excited. I unboxed it today, and was so excited to see that it looks like it does in the picture, no flaws. Everything is great. The smell, only for a few minutes will it be there, mine faded. And I'm not exactly sure how often people will hold it up to their noses and smell it anyways. I will surely be ordering more from True Swords!
handles are a bit cheap but shield itself is pretty sturdy. good size too
It is not quite as rounded as it looks in the picture, but the paint job on mine is fairly well done (a few bubbles and chips, but what can you expect?), and the construction is solid. The thing that bothers me about it is the hardware and fittings on the back. They are screwed on tightly, but still seem slapped-on and I worry about them breaking when I use it. The metal grates that the arm strap hooks into are soft metal and soon bent from the weight of the shield, but look like they could be replaced by someone industrious. Plan on replacing the provided velcro arm strap if you're buying it for costume use. Oh, and it smells strongly of fiberglass and paint, but that will fade. Overall, accurate OoT Hylian Shield that will make any fan-boy (or in my case, fan-girl) squeal with delight.
a nice shield only problem was the paint was chipped and the yellow of the triforce has silver painted on it.
The shield is just great every thing the picture shows but my only problem is the chain. The chain broke the second i lifted the shield up by it but other than the chain it is worth every penny if your a major nerd like me.
I could not be happier, i waited 4 days (no mail on Sunday ___) and it just arrived. this is for a photo shoot of Link I am doing, and this shield is PERFECT. If you've ever been a fan of the LoZ Series, my advice is to buy this shield immediately!
totally awesome, i read a few reviews while waiting for mine to arrive, and i must say the smell is noteworthy, but goes away rather quickly. my velcro straps had an error in the sewing as i believe was mentioned in a review as well, but i undid it and fixed it and sewed it back up. i am going to have to remove the brackets for the strap and handle and switch them for i am left handed but this will be easily done with the help of some strong glue, gorilla glue is on my mind... absolutely worth every penny, it is jaw dropping to look at.
