Traditional ninja claws are worn on the hands for climbing and self-defense.
As a self defense weapon, the spikes would make it impossible to use in conjunction with other weapons (guns, knives, swords), and I wouldn`t want to rely solely on them for defense, as the other guy may have a gun, knife, sword.
if u are buying this make shur to pick up the foot spickes also. u cannot clime without them. but for the price really good. a lot big but gloves are awsome
they work amazingly, but i recommend getting the ball bearing gloves with it as well so that you dont hurt your hands while climbing.
I was a pretty good climber at first but now i can basically climb anything now with these hand claws. Only thing you need is gloves otherwise the claws will hurt your hands. but yeah there dependable and work great.
My neighbors and my friends call me the bear now because of these if your looking for amazing climbing tool look at theses i climb up my tree all the time now I stab these baby's in a piece of wood and broke it in half there super sharp and durable for climbing any surface i go rock climbing with these I even think budk should show a video to show how amazing theses are BEST NINJA EQUIPMENT EVER
i got my hand claws a while ago but had a little trouble at first so i decided to order the foot claws. the foot claws got here today and i decided to try again i made it up the tree but the foot claws fell off, so obviously the foot claws are not needed even for beginners. you do however need a pair of thick gloves under the claws or else the metal digs into the backs of your hands. all and all hand claws very good purchase they are indestructible and get the job done, the foot claws on the other hand are a good purchase but not needed.
I was able to hang from a tree branch in my back yard for 5 minutes in these things. (around the 6 minute mark the branch broke) I have n o complaints.
These r nice! I got em recently n r good but it should have something comfortable around da hand cuz it hurts wen u climb but is good! Totally recommended
I tried climbing a tree in my back yard it hurt like heck but still worked great my hands are pretty small so i had to wear thick padded gloves and that hurt, so i wedged some socks in between and it didn't hurt at all. Over all amazing product i would recomend to anybody.
Meh. They came in the mail within about a week, i opened them up, was a disappointed by the cheap Chinese looking box. I opened the box and i pull these gigantic things out and I'm like EPIC!! these are big and spiky, sometimes they come with a little bit of extra metal on the tips that is bent, but nothing that can't be fixed with a metal file. Also I can tell these are made for larger people, as i have very small hands. nothing that cant be fixed with a pair of thick cotton fingerless gloves ^_^ all in all, 5/5!
there are great. allthough i put a sock on the back of my hand because they dig into my hand but after that they worked GREAT! 5stars!
i was highly impressed with this buy i fond that it stays on your hand well i thought it was going to be a velcro strap and it wasent it is made exelently i love it
these are beast, i could climb my tree in the backyard like a pro ninja!!
i should get more, sexii things
I put them on with two pairs of gloves with padded backs. This made them nice and tight an allowed for a lot of padding on the back of the hand. First thing I did was jump up and grab ahold of the beams above my basement. The claws dug in nicely and held my weight easily. For added stability and control, curl your fingers over and brace them against the metal band. Works great.
these are a great product, but not for climbing. i use them backwards (with the spikes on the backs of my fists) as a claw-like weapon. in combat , it is possible to use them with the "sai effect" (catching and breaking a sword.) they offer great freedom of movement to the fingers. so much freedom that i am actually wearing them as i type this review!! the strap secures rather well, and they are attached to the hand well enough to fight open- handed. i sometimes even train with them while using a sword! the oblong metal ring that fits around the hand seems to fit me perfectly, but i have very large hands and it is still almost too big. great buy. 5 out of 5
This babys hard Awsome love the black go for seath missons if your traing to be a Ninja . . .THERE A MUST BUY!!!!!!!!
They are very hard to use for climbing but still nice. If you wear gloves they don't hurt. You can also flip them around so the spikes are on the top of your hand. very sharp. good buy
they are very cool but the metal hurts your hands but if you buy a pair of gloves they should be fine.
few words can decribe them. alone there great for climbing but can also be used as a bear claw like weapon.
These are truly a quality product. The metal is good and the claws are sharp out of the box, though, with moderate use, they don't stay that way. The foot spikes are also a good thing to pair with this but a bunch of bad reviews have been posted because of a misunderstanding of proper use. these are meant to be used in almost a bear hug around the tree or whatever, using the body weight to keep backward pressure on the spikes, and putting all of the strain on the wrist buckles rather than making the metal loop bite into the hand due to using them in a horizontal manner. same thing with the foot spikes, they are meant to be used in a squatting position with all the spikes lined up vertically and the body weight putting forward pressure onto the spikes. Anywho, thanks for sitting through that and I hope it helped. overall, good product, made even better with the foot spikes.
very cool piece. cant quite climb with them all that well and straps are rather hard to get on by yourself. better for fighting than climbing.
pretty good. in order for them to be effective the spikes need to be set out a tad farther from the angle they are now. also different sizes would be nice.
very cool looking but the straps are pretty hard to put on bye your self and sometimes the spikes can wear out a little quick, and the back metal part can dig into your hands when your climbing but other than that a nice product for $12
A simple yet solid build. A pair of thick gloves are a must, as the metal can be quite painful on ones knuckles whilst climbing trees. The scaling of trees itself while these are on can take some getting used to, but is certainly fun.
these things are great. i love them they ar a bit uncomfortable but thats easily fixed. they ar too big for my son, but that was expected over all very good product
i just got my hand claws an hour ago i was so stoked but when i put them on they were a little to big, so i had too put a pair of gloves on under them so they would fit a little better. They are a good product very sharp and durable there just needs to be a sizing scale, cause not everyone has Shaq hands
because the back of the claw is metal it hits uncomfortably against the back of your hand especially when it catches on something but you can place a folded rag to cushion it overall worth the price
I don't know why people are complaining about the metal digging into the back of their hands. If you use these things right, that doesn't happen. So basically these are like the foot spikes also sold by BudK; basically indestructible. They aren't crap metal that falls apart on you like a lot of things do. Also, the spikes are wicked sharp. God forbid you slap someone in the face with them. Good luck getting your hand out of their face. But the spikes, like the foot spikes, aren't that great for climbing. They're bent at just the right angle to make it difficult to climb any tree that doesn't have a rugged bark. Overall I give them a 4 out of 5.
Great buy overall. Solid steel and the points are sharp so they dig into wood well. However it hurts climbing because the back digs into my hand. I wrapped it in leather and wore thick gloves and now its ok. The foot spikes are a must too.
hurt like hell, but will do its job. my hands are too big to wear gloves and these at the same time so i kinda got screwed there. still... a must buy
very good...a little big for my hands but i have small hands. they fit my big bro perfectly though good buy!
the claws are not worthless. they are hover hard to get usto. they only need a little practice. u need to hug the tree at a angle. (foot claws needed). i used them on a straight tree with high branches and got up it with no problem. sliding down is fun but do wear a heavy duty glove while using for grip and comfort
Theyre rather poor to use for climbing, and theyre not properly affixed to a large enuough solid palm plate for good use at climbing, so they prettymuch are a poor product in that aspect. For use in self defense, theyre rather good. The hooks which were too bent for climbing are perfect for grabbing and holding an opponent. Also somewhat awkward. Once you get used to their position, simple gestures and complex raver moves make for excellent ways to utilize the points of the claws. I sometimes wear sleeves over this, making it easy to conceal.
i liked them but there hurt to climb so u would need some padding on your hands if u like climb then get them and get some padded gloves for the back of your hands
they are good for climbing if you wear gloves, they still hurt a little but with the gloves but after a while you can get used to them, it would probably be a good i dea to get the foot spikes as well. good buy.
Too big for my hands and I am 5'10'' , since they are so loose the metal hurts your hands when you try to use them but I bet if you got some gloves to wear underneath they would work pretty well.
they just came in and i was very pleased with the material used for the straps. though there was one problem. the nails on these claws are lined up, but some are a little off. i was expecting more of the ones in the picture. maybe if you're lucky, you'll get straight ones. =]
the claws themselves are well made but the way they are made makes them very uncomfortable to ware normally or for an extended period of time. i found that putting them on upside down with the spikes on the back of your hand feels more natural. thought the normal way they could be used like hooks for ziplines
These were interesting. I wasn't able to climb very well partly because i don't also have the foot spikes, but they seem to do the job holding on to bark. Thick gloves are recommended especially for people like me who have thinner hands to avoid bruising. It seems like they would be more effective if the claws were a little bit less curved. For self defense however, I have no doubts that these claws would deliver.
Not bad for the price. I didn't expect the metal to which the spikes are attached to go completely around- forming a thick band. This looks (and feels) incredibly uncomfortable and will most likely require some modifications. This metal band is very lose (and I have wide hands) though I have yet to test them out... hence the three star rating.
These hand claws are pretty sweet. They are sharp, intimidating, kinda scary, and good quality.
the hand claws are okay...if you wanna hit people. the spikes are at way too severe of an angle so you can't get a grip on anything also when you try grabbing with them the metal digs into the back of you hands unless you have huge hands i do like that the spikes were extremely sharp though
when i got these i was excited, they are sharp, but there are some problems with these.
the problems are you need the foot spikes,
you need the perfect tree where you bear hug around it,
and if you are climbing something when you pull yourself up the back metal digs into your back hands and it hurts!
then again i have small hands that are 4 inch horizontal and 1 inch thick so if you have big hands this is the thing for you, but if you have smaller hands like me then you would be allot better off with the grappling hook and foot spikes. so over all i like these but they are not really that practical.
I've used them for climbing trees, some being dead and fallen into croches of other trees so they are at an angle. They take awhile to get used to and for the most part are useless because the spikes reduce the amount of surface area u can grab. When I used them I found that the tree bark would just shred off if I put my wait into them, and depending on your position the pressure would turn the back part of the claws into your hand and bending the wrist into uncomftorable positions. The claws also seem bent too much it u could bend them at home to a small degree the could be more efficient. The only thing they are good at are for quickly sliding down trees, climbing the dead angled trees, and hanging onto branches overhead.
Short version: Useless

Long version: It's fairly simple, these claws are advertised to aid climbing and self defense. And after testing it I cannot imagine how this is supposed to be achieved. The claws will either press into the back of your hand as you pull down or slide off your hand if you press inward. I couldn't even get the claws to penetrate bark on four different trees much less stick into the wood. Even performing a strong slapping motion yielded little more than dashed hopes and me looking silly hitting a tree. Just wearing them removes your ability to grab branches, which is about 70% of tree climbing.

The only reason I'm giving it 2 instead of 1 is because they are well built, just poor design for climbing.
I was very excited when i ordered these and when I got them they were WAY too big so put some hand wraps on to get them to fit. Also when I went to climb a tree with the foot spikes and all they did not work like I had hoped. If you think you will be able to scale trees with these and the foot spikes you won't. This was the only time I have been deeply disappointed by a product from Budk. However on the positive side the claws are VERY sharp, and durable. They are great if you want to hit people, but if you want something for climbing I would just go with the grappling hook. I would give this 2 out of 5 stars!
