The SOG FastHawk is faster, lighter, more agile and easier to carry than its sibling, the Tactical Tomahawk. This is not to say it is not still powerful, versatile and functional. It is a tool that will be used for much more than you might anticipate. Chopping, breaking, cutting, hammering, piercing, digging, prying, pounding, shaving, notching, opening and throwing are all capabilities well within the FastHawk's reach.

I bought this exact same one at Walmart for $20. Normally I don't like Tactical gear, but I figured Id give it a try. Out of the package it was dull, the spike has no edge at all. First throw stuck on the edge. Second throw stuck on the spike then fell and chipped the blade, it also took a small chunk out of the plastic handle. After that it wouldn't throw right, neither side would stick anymore. I can stick a kitchen knife better than this thing. The sheath was complete trash. The snaps were very weak and if you had it on your belt it fell out with any movement. I returned it & got my money back. I've learned not to buy any blades from Walmart nor anything Tactical specially something as cheaply made as this is.
this was a x-mas gift for my son. He was very happy with it. also great price
I have broken many tomahawks due to my terrible axe throwing skills but if you manage to break this by accident your either a god or bad luck brian
Bought my first 3 SOG fasthawks 8 months ago. Still holding strong and the main use it throwing. After heavy use(several hundred throws) The screws will begin to come loose so you will need to retighten them. Also the sleeve below the screws is begining to come apart after so much use. It takes a lot to get good at throwing tomahawks. Even after many hours i am still an amatuer. What i mean is the handle hits the block of wood about 50% of the time and my tomahawks have lasted this long. If you are an expert thrower they should last you at least a few years.
I got this tomahawk for throwing about a year ago and I love it., It's balanced and flies great. The steel is good quality: through the whole time I've had it, I've never had to sharpen it and the only problem with the blade was the top corner, which blunted a little bit (I think it something in the tree I was throwing it at), but it was easily fixed in about 2 minutes with a hand file. I've thrown it, cut trees down with it, busted open electronics with it, opened boxes with it, broken holes inj a frozen pond with it. An extremely versatile tool. The checkering on the side of the head seems to be a dirt magnet, but it's only a minor inconvenience. The sheath, however, is a different story. The construction is sturdy enough, but the snaps that hold the tomahawk in are pretty bad, (although since I'm the only person I've seen who has this problem, it might just be mine). The two front snaps that hold the broad part of the blade in keep coming undone at the most inopportune moments like, for instance, when I was hiking in the mountains.Or any time I try to run with it on my belt. Aside from the sheath, however, this is an excellent tomahawk that I would suggest to anyone
I'm surprised that there aren't more good reviews for this Tomahawk, because it is amazing in every way. SOG once again comes through with a high quality product. I love the weight and the size is just perfect (Tomahawks historically are not supposed to be overly large like a battle axe.) It is balanced perfectly for throwing. Just like the description reads, it is a useful tool for almost anything. I am an avid outdoorsman and I have taken it with me exploring out in the woods many times and it is useful for cutting large branches out of the way on the trails. I also enjoy throwing knives, but I've never really cared for throwing axes/tomahawks. The SOG Fasthawk changed that. I have two SOG Fasthawks, and I have literally thrown each them thousands of times in my basement at my tree stump targets. My basement floor is solid concrete, and my tomahawks have hit the concrete HARD many times, blade and tip-first quite often actually. And both of my Hawks are still in great shape and can cut and penetrate deeply into the wood targets. (Keep in mind I have a whetstone that I use to fix dents/imperfections on the blade whenever they get too damaged) Fact of the matter is, this Tomahawk is built like a tank, yet still feels lightweight. You will absolutely not be disappointed if you buy it.
Best Hawk ever owned. out of 4 tomahawks this is WAAAY better then any other hawks I've owned. Just Bought this for about $40 at a local Scheeles. I pulled it out of the packaging and realized, WOW! ITS CRAZY SHARP! the sheath is just fine and the hard sheath isn't worth getting. I bought the black version of this tomahawk but it is the same concept. I like the black better personally. SOG also has a warranty on this item so its definitely worth the buy. I intend on trying out throwing this hawk this weekend.
