M48 Kommando Survival Kit Review

Hikers, hunters and campers alike should all be prepared when venturing into the wilderness. You could spend a ton of money compiling a huge list of all the things you might need, or you could just buy one of United Cutlery’s M48 Kommando Ultimate Survival Kits and be done with it.

The M48 Apocalypse tactical tomahawk is one wicked blade! Based on the original M48 Kommando hawkaxe from United Cutlery, the Apocalypse version appeals to all you zombie lovers. The toxic green handle is constructed of 30% nylon, reinforced handle and is nearly indestructible. The black paracord wrapped handle offers a great grip and the axe head is attached to the handle with three separate bolts to ensure safe use even in extreme situations.

Each survival kit was specifically designed by a survival expert to meet the most-basic needs in survival situations. The kit contains 24 survival items packaged in a zippered-waterproof ripstop bag with a 5/8” snap-buckle and a built-in whistle.  The snap-buckle can be used to attach the bag to your pack’s 5/8” webbing so it’s always close by.

Inside the bag you’ll find a pocket multi-tool with needle-nose pliers, wire cutters, fine and serrated edge knife, Phillips screwdriver, small and medium flathead screwdriver and bottle opener. This tool can be used for many tasks including disassembly of electronics or as a fishing tool.

You’ll also find everything you need for starting a life-saving fire. There is a pack of waterproof matches, a magnesium fire striker with flint and cotton fire tinder. The last thing you need to do is spend a night in the cold after drinking water you didn’t purify by boiling. You’ll need a fire to do either one of those.

We don’t want to overlook the wire saw, snare wire and signaling mirror, all of which have their place. The wire saw can be fashioned into a bow saw with a sturdy, green limb that will allow you to make quick work of other limbs for shelter or splint making. The snare wire will help you acquire small game for food and the signal mirror will allow you to signal airplanes or rescuers at long distances.
