I bought these first because of the price and second because they were stainless steel. I didn't need a saw backed, zombie killing, death blade with a skull crusher on it. I'm over six decades old, so I'll leave the zombie killing to you younger folks. I needed something to clear out the tangle of vines infused in my wilderness area behind my house. I use wood for heat and needed to cut down some dead trees in there. But, vines made bringing the trees down cleanly a chore. The chainsaw just sucks them up in the blade and makes a mess. I wasn't expecting much, considering the price but I was greatly surprised. I used both and they have held up well and remained sharp. No nicks in the blades and the blade edges didn't roll over. Of course I'm not chopping down trees, but you shouldn't use them for that. Use an axe or chainsaw. The longer one was comfortable and was good in areas with room. But, I found myself using the shorter one more often. The slightly shorter blade made a huge difference in using it in tighter places. The weight is almost the same, so cutting efficiency was the same. They sliced through even dead vines cleanly. Slicing the vines on an angle worked every time even on the big ones. The handles are semi soft and textured and fit my hand well, with not slip at all. The sheaths are sturdy black ballistic cloth with big belt loops. I'm not in the military anymore, so I don't need the military attachment items. The larger one is better suited fastened onto a pack, as it's length allows it to bang your lower leg when walking. The shorter one is perfect on a belt and you hardly know it's there until you need it. The price is misleading, these are definitely good tools. The AUS-6 stainless blades are an entry level blade steel with a good compromise on hardness and flexibility. While you might have to sharpen these more often, they won't chip and break on you. Hint, don't sharpen these on a grinding wheel. Use a stone or some other method. Semper Fi, USMC.

DOLLAR GOOD
The big one is a small machete and the small one is about the size of a large but light Bowie. Have you seen the price? Less than 5 bucks apiece before discounts. That's a deal and they look good on top of it! Guys, do you really have to chop down trees with 'em.

AWESOME
These blades are really just amazing. My friend told me about budk a couple months ago and this was my first buy. I have only had these for a couple months and they are my first machetes. I AM SOOOOO HAPPY. I thought I would get ok quality but these are great quality! I'd say that this is one of the best buys on all of budk! THANKS BUDK! :)

I just got these about 30 minutes ago. They aren't the best machetes you can get. But definitely far from the worst. They are definitely razor sharp so be careful, they come with oil all over both of them but it is easy to clean off. The sheathes are pretty good, the handles are decent. Blade is very nice. Overall, these are grat machetes and definitely a steal for the price. If you only have 15 bucks then I definitely recommend these. But if you have plenty of money to spend I'd get something more durable. Unless you are just a collector then definitely get them regardless of how much money you have and/or want to spend.

Good Value
I received these as part of a 5 machete surprise package. Wow! I love the handles on these. Nice and sharp. I like the sheathes having snaps instead of Velcro to secure the machetes. The smaller one is compact enough to put in a BOB.

MACHETE MACHETE
I have several Bud K machetes already and didn't really need these but couldn't pass up the free shipping and besides with the Apocalypse coming you can't have too many machetes. The smaller one is worth the price alone and I was very pleased when I received these. The handles were comfortable to hold and and the sheaths were of fairly good quality. The blades were reasonably sharp but perhaps a bit thin which made the blades rather flexible which may or may not be a good thing? For weeds and small diameter limbs in the backyard they will work fine, the rain forests in Brazil, well, maybe not so good.. The blades are pretty thin but it's still a great buy at the right price. Happy trails.

Great Machetes
Only thing that would make this deal better is heavy duty Velcro to hold the two sheathes together. Went hunting and took both along. Hunting partner needed a machete also for part of the trip, & having both sheathes attached would have been quite convenient.

Double Trouble
These machete's are a fine pair! I would have payed $9.99 just for the 12 1/2 inch one. It's hard to find such a small size machete and one that's this sharp too. I enjoyed the 16 1/2 as well. Great job Bud K on this deal.

Best Deal on BudK
I have bought several machetes from BudK, and these are great value. At $5.00 each, they arrive sharp, and in a decent nylon sheath. Both machetes have a non-slip rubber grip which is comfortable to hold. I particularly like the balance and feel of the 18" machete, and the blade pretty solid, not so bendy as some inexpensive machetes I have bought before. Easily one of the best deal on BudK.

Excellent
Hard to beat these machetes for the price. Well constructed, comfortable grip. The blades are very sharp and sturdy. Not to be outdone, the sheaths are great as well. They are made just a little longer than the blade which is a great feature and there is a sturdy blade-side seam.

Superb Machetes
I ordered this set while BudK had the penny shipping so I paid exactly $10 for them. These are great quality, even the sheaths are decent! I kept the smaller one for myself and gave the larger one to my friend. We took them out and cut down a bunch of saplings and briars and they cut superbly. Right out of the box they were very sharp, but not over-sharpened to the point of chinking the blade. The handles are my favorite thing about these machetes as they are perfectly textured to not slip from the hand. And the shipping was really fast, they arrived 3 days after I placed the order. These are the most useful things I have bought from BudK. Do not hesitate to get this set as they are well worth the money.

Great Buy
I bought this set because you can't go wrong with 2 machetes for $10. The grip is amazing on each machete, I don't feel as if it could ever slip out of my hand. Both machetes came very sharp & cut well. This is one of my favourite items bought on Budk.

Decent Machete
Seems like a decent machete, a little flimsy feeling but works good for high grass or thin brush. Your not going to want to call on this for cutting thicker branches though that's for sure!

awesom
This machete is great and sharp i was outside cutting wood and was holding the wood and hit my hand with it and had to get 5 stitches in my hand in other words it is sharp but the sheath comes undone easily

pretty good
the smaller machete doesn't have enough momentum behind it to cut down what the bigger one can but the blade is a little flimsy on the big one whereas the blade is solid on the small one. the sheathes are great. the handles are rubbery and will not slip from your grasp. all around they are pretty good starter machetes but if i could go back i would have bought a different one for around $20.
