Product Description
These waterproof match boxes from M48 Kommando will not only keep your matches safe from water damage, but also anything else that could possibly save your life! They are great for simple first aid kits, fire tinder, survival kits and much more. Each set includes:
Once you get through the outside coating, this sparks just fine, used my SCHF9, the Hibben Alaskan and my Leatherman Wingman. All gave a nice shower of spark. Used the Wingman, Dryer lint with Petroleum Jelly and with the second strike there was fire. To my shame, truth be told It was my first time starting a fire with a striker. Being a smoker I always have a way to get my nicotine. This could not have been more simple. I held this underwater for 3 minutes and no leaking. The pouch on the Schrade holds 2 of these. one is going to be filled with lint and jelly and I haven't decided what the other holds yet but I do know they are both going to be there!
I love these things. A little short for matches, but I just trim them a little. Holds out the river water if it my EDC bag or Hiking pack takes a dump. Economical too.

Not bad.
First, great little kit builder for bug out fire, meds, fishing etc. Second, the striker on the bottom is not for matches, scrape a knife or screwdriver blade down it and you should produce a lovely shower of sparks. one of the three filled with dry soft tinder and boom fire!! I will be getting a few more soon.

ok match box
I got these because of the mirror in the lid. The ones I got are water resistant at least and have not yet been checked for water proof. My son really liked it due to the M48 logo and liberated two from me. I think the mirror would be a good back up and the flint on the bottom will shoot a hot enough spark if it goes into a vasoline cotton ball. I wouldn't use either as a primary, but feel they would be better than nothing. I will probably include a pack when ever I need to round out an order. Very useful.

Okay I guess
Not the best. I bought them due to the price, and you get what you pay for. Two of them tighten really well, but the third doesn't tighten hardly at all and then it pops loose. I am also disappointed at how little they hold, might be okay for medicine or something small. I went out to Wal Mart and bought a UCO Match container with 25 waterproof matches and a strike pad on the side.

OK, but not the best
For the price they are OK. On the plus side they hold 10 UCO waterproof matches. The bad: The striker on the bottom is smooth and useless for striking a match; the mirror in the lid may or may not be large enough to effectively signal.I have not checked them for watertightness; I hope they are. At 3 for 3.99 I cannot complain about price, but I do not think I would purchase more.
