Product Description
The Military Assistance Command, Vietnam-Studies and Observations Group, known to many as MACV-SOG was an elite group of special forces soldiers that operated in secrecy before and during the Vietnam Conflict. This Vietnam bowie knife is modeled after the very knife which was issued to this specialized group of soldiers. This is a historical replica in no way associated with the SOG knives brand.

This knife is better than I expected. I had a knife similar to this when I was about 12. That knife was a cheap piece of junk, so I wasn't expecting much with this one. When this one arrived I was pleasantly surprised at how well built this is. The handle is solid and the blade is firm with no blade play. Excellent knife. I hope this knife comes back for sale so others can purchase and enjoy it.

This knife has a really nice blade, it came sharp and has a good weight. The only thing that could have better quality is the hilt. But overall for the price, it is definitely worth buying.

I was quite surprised with the quality of the knife. I gave both I had purchased for gifts and the guys loved the knife, went on and on about it. Told them I paid $12.99 for each and they thought I was joking. Very nice going to buy one for myself now.

I bought one for my son and when i saw the quality of the knife I had to have one for myself. I keep it on my Bug Out Pack. One of the better knifes i have bought from Bud K. Very solid knife.

This is a great value. If you are a camper, collector, or in the "prepping" movement...add this to your tool chest. Though this is designed as a combat knife, most find use as "camp" knives cutting kindling, trimming branches, cleaning fish, etc. Should you have to defend yourself, this will do the job.

i bought this last spring and used it all summer atleast once a week for light camping duty. cutting up steaks and other food, making hot dog sticks, pretty much anything you need to do in the woods. i had to sharpen it a bit but only once. seems to be good steel and holds an edge well. i would only use the stone they provided in an emergency, its a bit course. but its definately a quality blade i'll be ordering another.

REAL LEATHER is all you smell when you first open the box. How nice is that!!! The handle on this knife is fine quality. Then blade is pretty good to. It Feels very nice in the hand and grips very well... NOT a toy or a cheap made knife. Great price for what it is, I will be ordering more of these and possible the other styles too.

While the blade is a little thinner than I would like and the leather handle is a bit crude it is none the less an extrodinary knife for the money, complete with scabbard. It is not really a five star knife but I got two for 20 bucks and that is absolutely a five star value.

Best knife I have. I've got a SOG brand knife that looks close to this one snd it cost me over $100 and I like this one more. It came sharp and even after my brother tried to sharpen it (with no knowledge on sharpening) it didn't wear this thing out. My only complaint is the sheath, some of the threading is coming undone but other than that the knife itself gets a 5, the sheath on the other hand gets a 3.

Bought this knife to add to my collection, and I have to say it exceeded my expectations. The knife is solid, the blade is well made, and the handle is something I'd expect on a much more expensive knife (and the leather sheath is nice too!). This knife just feels great in your hand. You honestly can't go wrong buying this knife, especially at the price of $12.99 or less! I loved it so much I bought one for my sister, and will probably by a few more for friends and family. If you're thinking about it, stop debating. Buy it! It's a great knife at great price!

This is a well made knife with a nice leather sheath to go with it. The knife had a very nice edge on it straight out of the box which impressed me. Great value for the money. Will make a nice addition to my collection.

this knife is an amazing buy, it came very sharp out of the box. with the small sharpening stone attached to it i got it even sharper. it was almost as sharp as my mora, if you know mora's they can shave right when you buy. i couldnt shave with this knife but i think if i had a better sharpener. the sheath is not very quality, some of the seems have fallen apart even with me not using it at all. the small lanyard hole at the base of the handle is perfect for a paracord wrap, or a lanyard to put on your wrist. the snaps are very nice, a lot better than velcro since they do not wear down over time.

Got my 2 knives yesterday they're great. I gave one to my best friend and he loved it when he first held it. Great knife so far haven't tested it much going hunting with him and another tomorrow so hopefully it'll be a good skinner. And the sheath and stone were awesome. It was sharp but not like I like it but a couple stroke with the stone and could shave the hair on my arm. And I'll have my friend review on here as well. Thanks Budk.
This is the best knife i own, it is just pure awesome, do NOT spend 70 bucks on some SOG bowie knife when you can buy from BUDK, btw i got my order in 2 days, it said (7-10 days), thanks BUDK!!!

I just received my package from BudK, got it the next day! That was regular shipping. The quality of all the knives were great, with the Vietnam fighter being one of the best. I love the quality, and the price. Where a actual Vietnam era knife would cost much more, This is a very nice replica for less than ten bucks. Keep up the good work BudK.

Great knife for the price! Sharpened up well. I ground down the brass guard especially on the thumb side so it would fit nicely into my hand. Also could grind on a second edge on top if desired. I can't believe the stacked leather handle for the price. Nice work BUDK!

A very good Chinese knockoff of the S.O.G. original and priced to please. I agree with many of the other reviewers that the sheath could use significant improvement, but when you need to pay 15 times as much for the current production name brand, I'm sure most could find a replacement sheath that will suffice (G.I. type Nylon Knife Sheath Item #01 RT40065 for instance?) and never feel taken advantage of. This knife was NOT designed as a survival knife nor a hunting knife, it's sole purpose was combat in the same spirit as the Marine K-Bar or the Fairbairn-Sykes British Commando knife. You shouldn't expect to abuse it for purposes it wasn't designed. All in all still one fine combat tool.

Used the original in country long time ago. It was a life saver. This one seems pretty strong. Had to work to get a decent edge though. It rides on my hip when I ride my Harley.I rely one it like I did the old one to be ready when I need it.

I was very impressed with this knife for the price, and it seems like something that will hold up after use. The blade finish appears well done, like the black will not chip off easily, and I love the look of the stacked leather washer handle with the brass guard and pommel accenting the ends. If the sheath is fake leather, they really put a lot of effort in hiding it, with black felt firmly veneered on the inner side of each place it is visible. The sharpening stone pouch is definitely real leather, to make the description of a "leather sheath" kind of the truth in a roundabout way. Anyway, it's a great start to a bug out kit, when you don't want to put your expensive brand name knife in a ruck in the corner that is only set aside for emergencies and forget about it, this is a great budget-minded way to go. I'd suggest to anyone to get the two for a savings, and have a gift or barter item to sweeten up any trade at the next gun and knife show or barter fair/swap meet.

i ordered a couple of these vietnam fighters . this is a well made knife , especially the handle . they didn't skimp on the handle that's for sure the blade is ok good thickness holds an edge pretty good . i put an edge on it in my shop you could shave with . then whittled some hickory ,it did just fine . the sheath on the other hand is vinyl not even good vinyl . it will not last through one trip to the forest . so good knife, bad sheath, great handle .

Not exactly like the one I had back in country, but the handle is more comfortable. It takes and holds a nice edge. Not sure the term Bowie should be applied to this knife. It is not made to be a hacker it is a tool to slice and dice. Still it brings back some memories.

First of all, I love the blade on this thing. It came pretty sharp, but I used my own sharpening system on the edge instead of the little stone it comes with. I'm not a huge fan of the sheath. It seems cheaply made for a leather sheath but that's my opinion plus I don't like leather sheathes to begin with. My only problem with the knife is that the sheath and the leather wrapped handle have a very potent smell. I don't know if it's oil or the actual leather but its very strong. After awhile it disappeared so I can't complain. Still, very good knife, one of the coolest in my collection now.

When I got the knife I was very excited. It took a bit of sharpening but that was easy. The handle is made nicely and has a metal pommel. Overall the blade is well worth it, the sheath on the other hand... It sucks, plain and simple. After a few weeks it is falling apart on the sides, it isn't even real leather. I could cut it with my finger nail it was so soft. So the blade gets a 4 star, the sheath a 1.

When you get this it is a pretty good knife, the handle is a little lighter brown and doesn't come too sharp. The sharpening stone isn't that good but it gets the job done. This knife is very sturdy, and I'm glad i bought it when it was only $10. The sheath is okay, but after a while the clip thing falls off, but the leather seems pretty good and durable. Thank you BUDK, I'm very glad I found this website and have already ordered more knives from here.

This knife has a cool looking handle, brass end cap but a good knock off of the S.O.G original. And the sheath needs better work done on it it is NOT battle worthy. But a good display knife.

this knife looks nice but the first time i used it the tip broke off and it doent keep a sharp edge, good thing it comes with a sharpening stone. also the handle was a little flaky on arrival.

Mine came sharp. It feels a little loose at times. But it is not an expensive knife. Holds an edge so far.

It looks great but mine cane with a dull blade. I tried to touch it up with a Gerber butcher steel, then ceramic stones, then a Smiths tri stone, then my Lansky diamond hones all to no good result. I can't believe this steel won't take an edge! The steel must have been a bad batch. Also the aluminum guide rails of my Lansky sharpener took some of the black finish off the blade and I only had it on finger tight. I think it's just a painted finish. It shouldn't be that tender.

The knife is cheap, pretty, fits well in the hand and is a nice knife but the blade out of the box couldn't cut paper at all much less shave, I own $200 of hand held knife sharping equipment , even the spyderco V, and nice stones but the edge has such a messed up angle even after 2 hours with everything I have I still couldn't make it cut paper, that's disipointing since I bought more than oneof them there all the same... I don't have a belt sander or anything to put the edge that's needed for this knife ...
