Product Description
The Schrade Out the Front Viper Assisted Open Knife is the third generation of OTF knives from Schrade. This model features a bead blast finished bayonet style blade that is sharp on both edges. This fast opening assisted knife slides open when you begin the process by pressing the slide trigger on the side. The blade locks up incredibly tight when open. On the front of the extremely comfortable, thin handle, there is a toggle safety that shows a red dot when it is ”live” and ready to fire. To close the blade, you slide the blade lock which releases the blade--which you then slide down and reset using the slide trigger. This is one of our favorite spring assisted out the front knives. It comes with a deep pocket clip and a glass breaker is built into the base of the handle. Get fast--get the Viper!
It snaps like a heart attack. Operating switch isnt as easy as it should. Still very nice. Mine is years old and still works properly. Otf auto would be handier in a fight. Once the blade is out, it aint going no where till you say its ok. Very cool just takes time to get used to it.

knife is not easily operated with one hand
if you understand it is a two-handed product, not bad If you are expecting one-handed operation you will be disappointed

This is my second Viper. Carried the first one everyday for 4 years before the switch broke.
Overall it’s made Well made to last; I will definitely continue buying this knife until they stop production. It’s a great buy.

Highly Recommended
Bought SCHRADE Viper OTF Dagger NON serrated on 6/16 and recieved it 6/21. Highly Recommended because of the quality of product and the quality of the spring action while maintaining a very strong safety. Will tell other knife enthusiast I know about product.

SCHRADE VIPER
This is a nice knife. Mine works fine since I oiled it and broke it in a bit. It was a little "sticky" out of the box. Well made. I like it better than my Cold Steel 4 inch Ti Lite. It is flatter and more comfortable to carry. Buy one. You will like it. Opens like lightening and the glass breaker is a good weapon also.

A heck of a knife.
I needed a sharp, one handed opening knife for work and every day carry. I have been studing the reviews and the youtube reports on the vipers for a few months. So on one of the free shipping days my wife ot it for me for an early Christmas gift. I got it in the mail today and it exceeds all that I have read and seen about it. Fast opening, shaving sharp, and a very tight lock up when open. You can't go wrong with this blade. Did I mention that it clips to the pocket with a very strong clip and is light enough that you almost forget about it? Thanks again Budk!!!

Solid Product
Solid product, however the blade can use some work(Sharpened to razor.) The controls take a little while to become familiar with. Outside of that, cost and quality is an even A-

schrade otf viper
Good blade. Came sharp enough to shave arm hair. Solid construction. No play in the blade when locked open. Nice and solid feel to the safety. Takes a short while to get used to opening with one hand but pull out of pocket, press down on safety to deactivate, and press forward on release button to eject blade becomes second-nature and fluid with practice. Blade locks open with authority. Very cool knife. Would purchase again with serrations just to have both. Get it.

Worth it to look cool
Cheap steel, the type used is just barely better than that used in replica fantasy swords. It is well made overall however, and a great improvement on the original design.

just not quite there
The knife is well made - all metal construction, blade locks up nicely, etc. - but poorly designed. The switch mechanism travels down a slot in the handle the length of the blade; you must operate it from behind and keep your fingers out of the way. This makes it a two hand operation unless you operate it from an overhead stabbing position. The blade sharpens nicely, but is a little thin for self defense. You couldn't get a piece of typing paper under the pocket clip. It needs a lot of loosening. I think they should charge ten more dollars and make a really nice one or stick with spring assisted folders. The blade deploys rocket fast, but the awkwardness of operation makes it very slow to use.

Bad knife
I recently ordered this knife, and it was really good for the first 2 weeks. A few days ago, I had tried to deploy the blade and it got stuck. It had to be forced to be moved forward, and it's just jammed really bad. I'm not sure if it's just mine or not, but it was a really good knife when I first got it. Solid, the blade doesn't wobble, it's pretty amazing for it's price OTHER THAN WHAT I PREVIOUSLY STATED.
