I just picked mine up from the post office and it is everything I expected and more! For $35.00, I am going to order 2 more, this is a great deal for the price! If you are considering getting one of these, DO IT while you still can. 5 stars all the way, thanks BudK! Customer service was excellent too! I will order from them again and again.

Pretty nice. I can't say it's the best, nor that I'd trust it in battle, but it will go great with my pirate costume, and will look good on my wall. Worth the price for something as cool looking as it is.

I love this piece. it is probably the most functional weapon I've ever perchased from Bud K and that's really saying alot when I've been doing business with them since 1999. It's the one Asian weapon I own that makes me wish my reenactment troop was involved with Japanese history. In un-related sparing I've spit staves beyond number with out a blemish on the blade, and it's held up to Artemus (my wife's two handed axe/ war hammer with a steel shaft). As if it's durability isn't enough, I bought it based just on the looks. It feels awsome in the hand, and the balance is beautiful. With a bit of practice it becomes an extension of your body. Best money I've spent in a LONG time.

i stumbled across budk after i purchased LOTR on bluray, and was pleased to see an ad inside. I've bought a few items from them since, and i must say this is THE best weapon for its price i have ever purchased. it feels great in hand, the tang and wrap seem fine so far, i plan on testing it a little more in the next few days. I highly recommend this. its awe inspiring to look at and even better to feel in your hands.

Fast shipping, and great packing. The quality is great for the price. Blade isn't as sharp as others but it still can cut pretty well. Wood quality and cloth quality are all there. Only complaint is it came greasy, other than that great.

This blade is thick and it looks serious. It is not dolled up to look good but somehow has the natural rugged charm you'd expect form a serious looking weapon. The feel of the sword is impressive. You really do have to understand when you hold it that it can hurt somebody or something and you really should use caution. The blade is not razor sharp but with the weight behind it I am sure it could make decent cuts. Overall I am extremely pleased and the moification made with the thicker blade over the original design a while ago is jsut incredible. IT feels as clsoe to perfect as I've ever held.

This is hands-down the most attractive sword in my collection, and the best thing I've ordered from this site so far. The massive blade is half an inch thick at it's thickest point, and it slims down as you get near the top.

I can't decide if it's a short-handled naginata or a long-handled sword. Either way, it's gorgeous in it's simplicity. As advertised, there is no unneeded frill attached. The blade is obviously hand-forged, giving it a tough, hand-crafted look.

Overall, this would be a great addition to any collection.

This was a complete impulse purchase at that last minute. While there was some damage on the blade where the black had been scraped or worn off, it doesn't detract from the naginata itself. It just makes the thing look like it's seen some battle at one point or another. I'm very glad I grabbed this blade as it's been a major conversation point at the weekend wargaming event. I can't argue the craftsmanship nor the novelty of this blade.

This is the best sword in my collection. I wouldn't say the metal bends EASILY but it does bend. My sword took a point first fall onto a concrete floor, and the tip hardly bent (and this was an accident not a stress test). Very well balanced. I haven't had a problem with it at all, and the blade is still quite sharp after testing it on a few items. Haven't managed to nick the blade at all. Better quality than any of the Katanas I have bought from BudK.

Incredible weapon. One of the most solid swords that I've seen, and at a price that boggles the mind. The strap on the sheath needs to be reinforced, but such a minor detail compared to the greatness of the weapon.

The ring shown at the base appears to be part of the tang. The balance point is located near the tsuba, offering a nearly perfectly balanced weapon. And even though they say that there are no frills or anything for looks, the natural wood handle against the tempered finish offers an appealing and unique look.

This naginata is an interesting weapon to be sure. I am a big fan of weapons of this type, and was pleasantly surprised by this weapon. word to the wise on this one- If you are planning on using this weapon (like actually USING it), you need to know what you're doing. It is a very heavy weapon and the style you use to fight with it isn't very instinctive. I offer this warning because without proper training, it would be very easy to hurt yourself with this weapon.

I mentioned that it was heavy, and I meant it. The weapon feels fairly normal when you pick it up and swing it a few times, but any prolonged practice or sparring leaves you absolutely exhausted. It's a really great workout, and will make you a stronger fighter, but will also help to improve your technique- you will find ways to let gravity and momentum do your work for you, instead of moving this big piece of steel all by yourself.

Overall, quite a good buy, certainly a different experience, but very heavy

I love it overall but one concern I have is the wood used in the handle. This item is advertised as "battle ready" but after only a few twirls I heard a "crackling" and felt the slightest "wobble" laterally (side to side) where the blade meets the handle. I am assuming that the blade extends fully throughout the handle to that ring at the end and if this is the case, the wood simply may be too light/soft for the weapon but there is no danger of the blade flying off (I hope!). I can always replace the wood if I need to and when swinging it back and forth there, it is tight and solid, just seems like if I were to wobble it side-to-side it might start to splinter the wood. Considering the price of the item, I'm not overly concerned.

Just got the blade last Friday. I thought it would be bigger but it is a solid weapon. Had to put an edge on it but got my acu sharp the same day. So it all worked out other than that very happy with the weapon.

HUGE blade when they say massive they mean MASSIVE. And its carbon steel i've verified this. The blade stretches all the way to the ring. Even the ring is super thick. The hardwood handle is hard core. All together its great buy.

First of all, this is an amazing blade. There were several reasons why I gave it four stars though:

1. when I got this sword, it was wrapped in plastic and quite greasy. I don't know if it was because of the cold, wet weather, or if that was just the way the sword was colored, but a significant amount of the black had come off when I removed the plastic.

2. the hand guard came loose almost instantly, so every time I swung the blade, it made a loud *ding* noise, which was pretty annoying. This can be fixed though. Also, the guard was a solid piece of metal, which is not as nice as some of the more ornate ones I have seen, but I guess it would be practical in real combat.

3. This blade came pretty dull, so I had to sharpen it. I don't have the right tools for the job, so while the rotary tool did make it sharp, I scratched up the metal in the process.

Overall, this blade is great. The metal extends all the way to the ring, and the feel of the handle is quite natural. I love the three grips especially and the ring is a nice touch. When swinging it, it has a very different feel from a traditional sword, and I did manage to hit myself pretty hard under the ribs, while swinging with the forward tow grips. Overall, I would recommend this definitely as a second purchase, but for a first time sword buyer, I would stick with a more traditional katana.

This naginata is pretty thick and heavy, so much so when a buddy of mine swung it it the tang split the handle....the wraps come unglued if you play with it at all.....and the tip came bent, prolly a shipping thing but the box was fine.....all in all a neat lil guy but if you're thinking about the zombie Apocalypse like i was when I got this guy, this is one to leave behind........does work great for training as the weight of the thing helps show you how to swing and follow-through a lil better, once training with this thing a katana feels like a flyswatter and you'll be better with youre speed.........also the handle is like 3 feet shorter than traditional and the blade is much bigger than practical if youre wanting an old school practical one

This is a really cool looking sword. I espacially like the partial sheath look, it makes it more unique. But when the discription says fully functional, it only means half of it. The metal can stand up to cuts, but the blade cannot. The blade came to me nearly edgeless, I could barley cut paper with it. I may have to go and get it sharpened if I ever wanted to cut tamati mats. overall, good looking sword, good metal, can't cut anything

Broke after 10 mins off soft play compared to the things I have done the other blades from this site..... Don't waste ur time .... Blade is bent in an S shape ..... And even after I modified it with steel re-bar and a welder it still was such a cheap quality blade that the force of the first hit caused it to bend
