Product Description
This excellent Shinwa Shirasaya sword incorporates the weapon design that was wielded by Zatoichi, the famous blind swordsman character of Japanese films and television. Measuring 40 1/4" in length, the Damascus steel of this sword's blade is heat-forged, heat tempered, folded to deliver more than 2,000 layers of outstanding cutting power, and is built to perform with a razor sharp edge. The 28 3/8" straight blade is tightly held by a hardwood handle and slides smoothly into the matching hardwood sheath.
Couldn't be happier the blade is extremely strong for the price and is so sharp I can shave with it I give it two thumbs up an five stars

my opinion
Do not let the manufacturing in China decieve you . i agree on the other imitation swords made from there , but these are different. These blades are true to there word for i've seen their formidable excellence myself. Damascus steel can be a bit more fragile than other blades, but their sharpness is unmatched, if your sword came dull btw, these are hancrafted as you insulted many artisans at this point, and humans were never perfect , which does not show louziness but shows that these blades are not machine made and are beyond the functionality and quality of machine blanked swords. YES they are battle ready and are full tang. I give thanks to the artisans and designers of these blades , which is SHINWA.

weak
Bought the sword, loved it when i took it out of the box and the sword carrier. it is sharp as h**l but when i went to test it out on a few limbs in the yard and i come across a 2inch think piece and the d**n blade bent, i thought damascus steel should hold up to a little limb sorry but im really disappointed in this sword

SHINWA NODACHI DAMASCUS
Sorry but any sword is expected to withstand @ least a few good blows from another sword or they would be useless in battle. Yes the blade would become nicked from being struck by another sword but that is about it. But with a katana or samurai you are supposed use the spine of the sword to defend against a sword blade because of the softer metal used in the leading edge for sharpening reasons the harder metal is on the outside and back of the blade. But if it were true Damascus steel it most definitely should not bend. But what do you really expect from something that is made in china. All they can make is cheap imitation crap.
