Product Description
The 28" black Damascus double-edged blade of this Shinwa Katana is built to perform with razor sharp edges on both sides. The intricately detailed tsuba and guard will have you wondering which Japanese sword master handcrafted this gorgeous weapon. The handle is wrapped in a dark teal cord to match the cord wrapped wooden scabbard that is included with each sword.
This is the Second swordI bought that had some Bad Reviews! Why? Because Dan Voges of Nebraska explained some failures and he highly recommended the products! I have Many other Shinwa swords and all are well made so I have to agree with Dan in his acessments. These are Swords, not baseball bats, as such they are made to slice, not Hack! Thanks Dan, because you can explain Quality, I now own another Fine Sword!

Great!!!
This sword is awesome. The first thing I did was slice a Gatorade bottle. The blade is perfection and the case it comes in astounded me. A must buy in my personal opinion.

Still waiting on it to arrive but I purchased it due to a friend of mines that has it and it is truly amazing. Such sharpness and the perfect length as well.

Comes in a display worthy sword case, has a beautiful look to it. It is wicked sharp, and every bit as elegant as described.

Damascus
I own four swords and they are great if you people that say you do not care for what you got? Then spend 5000.00 on up for a highly ture made sword and then you won't have to complain.

Well built
This is a well built sword for the price. The fit and finish is more than adequate. I'm amazed at the quality for the price. It is a heavy sword, which is good since it will be a practice piece. The steel is beautiful. I suggest since this is a black steel, you shine a flash light or bright light on the blade to really bring out the beauty of this sword. Since this is a double edged sword, extra care and precautions should be taken. This is definitely not a toy or a novice sword. All in all this is a great purchase.

For all concerd about shinwa swords
If anyone is concernd about Shinwa swords after Nick from Aurora Co.comments, don't be the Shinwa Black Dragon is an amazing sword, swords are rated in many ways, one way is slow to swift for a double edge long sword this is the swiftest full size fully functional sword I have ever seen it is a pleasure and honor to get to practice with this fine sword. The gunk you see on your sword when you pull it from the scabbard is wax they pour wax into the scabbard to protect the sword,it has never bothered me I simply wipe it off the blade before use.Not all swords are made to be dissasembeld and this one is not, their is really no reason to remove the hilt from the blade tang you do not need to clean the tang, and the tang is full length and is NOT wielded onto the blade it's a true full tang,a continuation of the blade. Some Shinwa swords are easy to disassemble,if the handle has two pegs it can be disassembled,if their is only one peg the handle is glued on.This dose not in any way make the sword, dangerous, unuseable or cheap. This sword can be easaly disassembled you just have to know how and you should never atemt to remove the handle and guard without the proper training.I am an expert with swords,Both in use and repair. If your guard is a little loose don't worry about it unless you use your sword to practice martial arts.I am 55 years old I have been buying repairing and playing with swords since I was 19.I have yet to see the perfect sword all swords have there flaws, sometimes it takes a trained eye to see them.Buy swords to use,buy swords because they look beautiful, buy swords to collect, know what is a functional sword and never use a nonfunctional sword,BudK has a wide variety of functional and nonfunctional swords all are beautiful.I hope this will help you.Thank you your friend,Daniel Voges

Raising the Bar
This was my first Shinwa sword. Having this sword has raised the bar so high for me that I seriously do not care to shop for swords that are not in this quality category. This sword is tight from pommel to tip and the blade is extremely sharp. You must have a Shinwa and Budk is the best place to get it from!

good deal
I got this sword to replace one that was stolen from me. I like the weight and balance of it. As far as it being Damascus steel, I can't tell. But it seams that the coating would come off verry easy. It is far from Razer sharp, like advertised. If I sharpen it , I would likely have to use gun bluing to make the sharpened edge black again.but I am satisfied with it for the price.

Great sword
recently bought this sword and i gotta say its pretty good not as sharp as i wanted and theres small wood chips in the scabbard but over all its great. You can tell its real damascus steel ( mine came with red and black streaks ) and its strong I wacked it as hard as i could agenst a tree ( aslo capting of the wrestling team so im not weak) and didnt break or scratsh when i pulled it out all there was was some weird tree goo This is a sword that in the olden days soldiers in japan were give cause they were relyable and not to much to manufacture so if you're looking for A good sword thats not to much this is a sword for you

do waste your money
This is my first order placed with this company and the item is not worth it . The handle wrapping glue is breaking down and unraveling the glue is all over scabbard and blade it looks like dried fish scales and wood on the scabbard is paper thin.their is nothing about this item which is not a negative.

Shinwa Black Dragon Katana Sword Damascus
I can not believe you called this damascus steal. Lightly took this very sharp sword , from one end to the other and checked the flex of the blade. Whoa! This is not damascus. Why don't you try it! What's left of this $130 piece of garbage is in a junk pile, and will be taken to the dump this spring. You people know better than this.

POOR QUALITY
I got this sword on a BOGO sale, not very impressed. This sword screamed poor quality! When held up to a light you can see many imperfections in the blade, and my handle on both swords were very loose and the fittings were not what I expected, again poor quality. For a $129.99 sword this is bad, maybe worth the money for $19.99. Cheap storage box made out of thin plywood that you can crush with one hand. Used one sword to test as in the videos and the blade bent beyond all repair, I then sanded down one side of the bent blade and to my amazement the "Damascus" markings disappeared. Just regular steel. I've seen good reviews of this sword so hopefully I received a cheap knockoff that BUDK did not know about. Returning the unused sword for an exchange for something worth $129.99. I've always received good quality blades from here so this is hopefully just an oversight.
