In 1988 Sylvester Stallone made the third Rambo movie. As a knife collector, Stallone had a number of Gil Hibben's knives in his personal collection. So when he needed a bold new knife design for his John Rambo character in the movie, he called on Gil. After some ideas were passed back and forth between Stallone and Gil, they settled on the now famous modified bowie design which is the Hibben III bowie knife.

this knife is the little brother to the Rambo 3 knife by Hibben, it is equal in quality to the original. quality far surpasses the knock-offs that are currently available. you really need to hold this and the original in your hands to really tell the difference ,they both feel great and the quality is obvious.

Steven W. On7/10/16. Got mine awhile back. This is a true Hibbens blade thru and thru. It is light weight and balanced to a T. The handle fits snug in your hand, without tiring out your forearm. And you can bet that you don't want to be on the business side of this blade. Great Job BUDK. I suggest that you buy one, you won't regret it.

Merry Christmas to me! Reviewed by Clem Keith on Dec 09, 2012   5 out of 5

This knife came in around last weekend, and it's the most beautiful one in my collection so far. It's way better than that Master Cutlery piece of garbage ("el cheapo," as my dad would call it). I love Hibben blades, and this one is one of the best he's ever produced. I also love United Cutlery, because they make Chinese-made knives look like they're actually quality-made pieces. My wish list is loaded with Hibben products, especially his Legacy Fighter. Αντίο from your friendly neighborhood sixteen-year-old nutcase!

I received my Gil Hibben Bowie Knife yesterday and I am very pleased with it. It is a hefty knife with great balance, razor sharp right out of the box. It's a great looking knife, too. I don't know if I'll ever use it but if I do I'm confident it will be up to whatever task I need it for.

Minutes after opening me and my buddies decided to start chopping things in half 2 liter, gatorade bottle, ping pong balls, and we also stabbed a wall. around an hour after opening I threatened my first life ever and it worked. overall this knife is the greatest knife I have ever owned. I look forward to running down and stabbing squirrels while listening to Skynyrd in my back yard.

This is the original "Rambo III" movie Bowie released by United Cutlery (mine came imprinted with Rambo III on the sheath), 2" shorter than the new "anniversary" model and 8" longer than the latest version. It almost makes me want to say, "Pappa Bear, who has been handling our knives while we were out in the woods?" (making this the Mamma bear size?). None the less, this is a beautiful, very well made knife, great for collections but up to almost any task you'd set for it, should you choose.
